Introduction: The 2^nd International Symposium on Automobile Steel (ISAS2013) jointly organized by The Chinese Society for Metals and Ansteel Group Corporation, co-sponsored by Society of Automotive Engineers of China, was successfully held in Anshan, Liaoning province, China on 21-24 May 2013.

This event attracts more than 200 participants from 18 countries and regions. 72 papers were published in the conference proceedings. 54 papers were arranged for the oral presentation and 18 papers were arranged for poster presentation. The conference is focused on the hot topics in the field of automobile steel industry worldwide and exchanging all your opinions, suggestions and having a wide discussion on the status quo and the trends in this field. The famous experts in the field of automobile steel, the primary steel enterprises and institutions as well as automobile manufacture companies were invited to give the excellent presentations at the symposium.
