“2009 International Symposium on Thin Slab Casting and Rolling” (TSCR 2009) organized by The Chinese Academy of Engineering and The Chinese Society for Metals was successfully held in Nanjing, China on May 13-15, 2009. Prof. Yin Ruiyu, the member of The Chinese Academy of Engineering, the honorary president of CSM, Prof. ZHANG Shourong, the member of The Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. WANG Guodong, the member of The Chinese Academy of Engineering,Prof. Hong Jibi, the executive vice president and secretary-general of CSM attended the conference.
This eventattracted more than 282 delegates from 12 countries. 82 papers were collected in the conference proceedings. During the conference， the participants reviewed the great progresses made by the Chinese steel industry for TSCR Process, exchanged the operational experiences on high productivity, seeked for the advantages of TSCR process, and put forward the proposals on TSCR development.The state-of-the art technology for productivity enhancement, quality improvement, and steel grades expansion was also mentioned in TSCR2009. Meanwhile, an exhibition was held simultaneously with the conference. After this conference, about 100 delegates visited the Converter Steelmaking, Continuous Casting, Hot Rolling, Cold Rolling, Galvanizing line of Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. All participants gave high appraise to the conference. The TSCR conference will be held every four years from this year.
